Wondering How to "Let Go"

Pastor Craig has been teaching on Spiritual Sonship from Spiritual Slavery. The first chapter of Jack Frost's book talks about "letting go."

As was indicated by the story of the crewman holding on to the ship's safety line in the midst of a major storm... many of us just don't want to "let go." Not even when not "letting go" hinders us from reaching a far safer place.

Is it an issue of trust? Do we really trust our heavenly Father to take us from what WE believe is a safe, comfortable place, to what HE knows is the perfect place for us? Or do we see Him as someone or something who wants to do evil and harm to us? He promises in His word to prosper us... Jeremiah 29:11 says, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope."

Or is it fear that holds us back? Even if we really believe that God does have ALL the answers, are we still afraid to walk in that belief? Is it fear of man... or fear of ourselves... fear of change... or fear of failure? But God's Word also says that "Perfect Love casts out all fear" 1 John 4:18.

What actually happens when we do let ourselves "let go?" God grabs ahold of us in a wonderous dance and leads us in that dance to the place we need to be... safe and sound in the arms of The Father... (Guidance... God U & I dance....) He safely guides us to that place in the midst of that stormy vessel that is sheltered and protected.

So, why do we hesitate to let Him take the lead and guide us to safety? I wonder....
